CSCS Card Applications

The CSCS card scheme was set up to help the construction industry improve quality and reduce accidents. The CSCS card scheme is designed to make working sites safer and working standards higher by having each operative carry a card that identifies their skill level.

CSCS cards are increasingly demanded as proof of occupational competence by contractors, public and private clients and others. Many sites and contractors will now only use fitters with CSCS cards for safety and quality purposes.

To get a CSCS card, the minimum requirement is completion of a health & safety test and register for an NVQ. If you have already completed your Health & Safety Test in the last 2 years you will not need to do this again.

Which CSCS card do I need?

Experienced Worker

You may qualify for a blue skilled card if you have achieved an NVQ or SVQ level 2 or if you have completed an employer sponsored apprenticeship which included the achievement of a City and Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate.

Regular Visitor

The yellow regular visitor card is for people who frequently visit a construction site, but have no construction specific skill. The card is issued on a personal basis via application form, the applicant will need to take and pass the CSCS Operative health and safety test.

The card has been designed to allow access to a Construction Site to be made easier, as passing the health and safety test status can reduce the amount of site induction that is required.
